She has 5 horses and pony's, awesome more than my other trainer. I want to have fun! I know people are telling me to toughen up and she might be more helpful than a nice trainer but I just can't handle the yelling. I don't focus well when being yelled at and I get nervous which is bad when riding because the horse can feel my nervousness:/ What should I do?

I would Switch to wherever you feel most comfortable. Go to the other barn, and talk to the trainer. I started riding at a barn where I was yelled at whenever I made the tiniest mistake, and I was honestly not doing very well there. I switched to a barn with a better atmosphere and I went from hardly jumping cross rails to jumping almost three feet in less than a year. The experience of a barn really makes a difference.

I would ask around locally to find out which barn around you has the best reputation. Both barns seem to have excellent equitation and jumping skills, just from looking at pictures. I would definitely try out the second one for a couple of weeks after you get the lessons you've already paid for at the first barn.

Looking around the sites more, I would pick the second barn. The facilities look much nicer.

Should I switch barns?
So I am in a tight situation. I don't know if I should change barns or not. Like a lot of people I am tight on money. I am 15 and I am a junior so I will be going to college soon.

#1 This barn I am at currently, I like it it's just the trainer can be harsh sometimes and it is 30 min away from me. I pay a package so it's 45 a lesson a week. She has horses just only 1 is good. I am interested in hunter jumper and this barn is eventing. I have only been here for about 5 months. The first time I got there in my lessons she would always yell at me and scream. She is getting better but she is still a little like that. She sometimes say's don't mess up my good horse by giving it bad habits and things like that. She is so anal about everything. She does have a nice side though sometimes. I think she is a pretty good trainer though, she could explain things to me a little better though. I take private lessons.

#2 I have checked this barn at before and it is nice. It only has one jumping arena. It is a hunter jumper and eq barn so it's good. It is a pretty place and only 10-15 min from me. I could go there any time I would like and hang out. I watched a lesson and it seemed more fun than a lesson but she did give good instruction. I think everyone there is a family and I seemed to fit in well there. The girls are nice and were welcoming. She is said to be a professional rider. It is 50 dollars a lesson and so it is 5 dollars more. The barn above has a dressage ring and a cross country course around it. She also knows a vet I can go with and volunteer with him, because I would like to be a vet so that would be a good opportunity. She is an equine vet and she rides race horses in the morning's. The only thing i'm a little iffy about is the training if it will be fun but serious or just fun and not enough training. I will take group lessons not private because she thinks you learn more from group ones. She has 5 horses and I saw them all when being ridden and they looked like really great horses.

I definatly think barn #2 is alot better. If your unhappy at your current barn, then there's no point in spending money on taking lessons there. The 2nd barn is closer, only 5 dollars more, and you might get better instruction.

Well for one thing I applaud you for being at the point you are in life and your politeness about the entire situation. I Guess the real problem here is most likely the older sister seems to have paved the road for you and did not do a good job. The next time you want to go out, maybe have it be with a group of people and see what happens. Like a group trip to the mall. Or plan a family pic nic and ask if a few friends can come. Let them see you in a social situation with friends. Let them see how you handle yourself. I use to take my daughter and her friends places they would enjoy but to places they could also have freedom, wed go to the beach at night and have a fire in a pit and Id have dinner and Id let them pretty much take a walk and go see all the shops and then come spend the last hour with me and wed all eat. I could see how everyone interacted etc etc. It might help build some confidence in the parents so that the next time you want to go out some place with a group of friends they will feel they know how everyone is and behaves and are respectful guys and they may say yes. You have done your part with your own morals and how you handle yourself. With the world today, parents are afraid of the unknown. Good luck.
